The U.S. Travel Association created the U.S. Travel Association Political Action Committee (TravelPAC) in 2009 to enhance its leadership on behalf of the entire travel community by helping to elect Members of Congress who appreciate the power of travel. The PAC allows U.S. Travel to enlist support from eligible portions of its membership, staff and other travel industry allies to better educate federal policymakers about the economic, social and diplomatic importance of travel. TravelPAC is a key component of U.S. Travel’s overall mission to promote and facilitate increased travel to and within the United States.
TravelPAC is essential for strengthening the travel community’s collective voice and increasing our engagement in political activities, opening additional lines of communication with Members of Congress and their staffs, and allowing us to compete with interest groups and other organizations that support candidates whose efforts might impede travel. TravelPAC will demonstrate the industry’s collective support for those candidates for federal public office who in turn support the priorities for which we advocate every day.
The overarching goals of TravelPAC are:
-To position the U.S. Travel Association as the leading voice of the travel community;
-To support Members of Congress and candidates who appreciate the vast benefits travel provides for the U.S. economy and American families; and
-To educate and mobilize the members of the U.S. Travel Association to play a more active role in the political process.
